Recap: Tanqueray Trunk Show DC

On Saturday, February 7th Tanqueray hosted at D.C.'s Dock 5 the Tanqueray Trunk Show—a nationwide campaign which allows patrons to engage with today’s most influential brand architects such as: Maxwell Osborne (Public School), Ronnie Fieg (KITH NYC), DJ M.O.S. and Coltrane Curtis—learning tips on how to start their own business, pitch concepts and network with peers as they create their own spin on the classic Tanqueray and tonic cocktail.

Following the daytime panel discussion, patrons made their way to Opera Lounge for an evening fete with a surprise performance by legendary music producer, Just Blaze. The hip hop heavyweight, who produced several of Jay Z's most iconic songs, played a mixture of rap classics as partygoers enjoyed signature Tanqueray cocktails.

Coltrane Curtis: Husband, dad, Team Epiphany managing partner, former MTV VJ, former Complex Magazine editor and founding member of G-Unit Apparel expressed the importance of networking and building a strong team.
CC: You can't get anywhere without a team. Surround yourself with a good team.
TG: What do you do when everyone isn't pulling their weight?
CC: They will weed themselves out.
CC: You ever had a latte?
TG: Yeah
CC: You'll have good lattes and bad lattes? The good latte has that little bit of foam at the top. (that's your team)
After you get through day 1, day 2, day 3, etc the ones that stick around are just like that little bit of foam on top.
TG: Thats it. Thats the interview. Thats all I ever need to know in life.
CC: Say no more.

Public School NYC (founded by Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne) prides itself in being both "teachers and students." Maxwell Osborne of Public School NYC expressed the importance of mentorship and giving back. Sometimes a bit of luck may play but then again, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity," but by no means did their success happen over night. Their slow and steady climb began a decade +++ ago.

2001: Dao-Yi Chow makes the rise from intern to VP of Marketing for Sean John (Dao-Yi and Maxwell meet at Sean John)
2005: Public School NYC is formed by way of "Arrive in Miami Beach"
2008: Public School NYC is launched
2010: Selected in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund incubator program.
2013: Awarded the CFDA Swavorski Award for Menswear of the year.

At the Tanqueray Trunk Show I spotted a gentlemen (Johnny Bou) donning the paisley scarf. Paying him a compliment he pays me back a conversation of a group of guys out of Baltimore that he worked with in their early days called Treason Toting Co. I told him that we were just at Liberty Fairs with them and that we met two years ago in Baltimore at Galery 788 for a Moto Art Show. I pointed over to Will. And "Nothing Was The Same" not in a Drake kind of way... but seriously it was instant comraderie.
